- Ways to fulfill the Florida Literacy requirement:

- Successful completion of either:
- POSX041 American Government; or
- AMH020 Introductory Survey Since 1877; or
- AMHX010 Introductory Survey to 1877
- AND achieving the standard score on one of the following assessments:
- A minimum score of 60% (48/80) on the FCLE or
- A minimum score of 4 on the AP United States History exam or
- A minimum score of 3 on the AP Government and Politics: United States exam
- Alternatively, the following exams will complete both the course and the test requirements:
- History of the United States I CLEP exam – minimum score of 50 ($)
- American Government CLEP exam – minimum score of 50 ($)
- Successful completion of either:
- Unlimited attempts of the FCLE are allowed with a 30-day waiting period between attempts
- No time limit on the FCLE
- No cost to FSCJ students for the FCLE
