This is just the start…

We’re so glad you’re here in solidarity with ending the oppression of people with disabilities! There’s so much exciting work ahead.

The information discussed in “What do you know about Ableism?” trainings or included in this resource kit is not intended to be comprehensive. Along with a review of the material discussed in training, you’ll find links for references and resources that more deeply explore the subject matter.

Revisit these resources and continue to expand on them in your own pursuits and scope of practice. Be sure to center the testimony and work of people with disabilities in your learning materials as you continue to enhance your understanding and foster real change in your environment.

Transformative practices take emotional and academic investment, not to mention a large time commitment.  And, accessibility and inclusion are evolving arts and sciences. Don’t be afraid to sit with and interrogate your own discomfort as you confront beliefs and behaviors from the past that you may want to change.

A quick note on the language used in this toolkit:

While acknowledging and respecting both Identity-first and Person-first perspectives, the authors have chosen to use Person-first language for this document.
