Instructions: This assignment consists of 4 questions that are to be answered in a brief essay format. Each question is worth 10 points for a total of 40 points. Answers should be in your own words, a minimum of 5-7 well thought out and well constructed sentences, and demonstrate an understanding of the question/concept presented. There is a rubric for the critical thinking assignment. There is no time limit for the assignment.

1. Give an example of thoughts, feelings, and behavior that may be unusual or temporary as the result of a traumatic situation. Would those symptoms meet the criteria for an anxiety or mood disorder? Why or why not?
2. Studies on anti-social personality disorder indicate a genetic predisposition for development of the personality disorder. Based on this, what type of social/cultural environment would put the child at risk for developing the disorder? What type of social/cultural environment might lessen the chance of developing the disorder?
3. Seeking treatment for psychological or substance abuse disorders may be stigmatized by family, friends, society or occupation. Describe some ways in which seeking help is stigmatized. Describe some ways in which these relationships might encourage seeking help. ⁽¹⁾
4. The Social Readjustment Rating Scale is used to measure the stressors a person might face over a period of 1-2 years. Some of the items on the list are events we consider to be positive such as a raise or a promotion. Explain how a positive stressor such as this can act negatively for the person involved.

You must complete all assigned readings and Discussion Board assignments before attempting to complete this exam. You have 120 minutes to complete this exam. You have two attempts for the exam and the highest score will be recorded. Questions are random. ⁽¹⁾

Grading: The exam is worth 120 points. It includes 60 questions (multiple choice). Each question is worth 2 points.
